Can anybody tell me the phone number for Airtran nonrev use? I'm needing to check the loads, as I'm jumpseating out in the morning. I may have to buy a ticket if the availiability is not cooperating with me. I've searched over the forum, and was unable to locate a number. Thank you in advance!!

There is no non-rev phone number. Try 1(800)AIRTRAN

If the agent won't give you the info you want go to airtran.com and try to make a reservation for 9 people on the flight you want to non-rev on. If it allows you the option to purchase the tickets, you chances are good. Keep in mind we do oversell.

I´ve always used 800-AIRTRAN, and I never was turned down. One nice feature of their phone service is if you hit `0` while the´re going over FAA and TSA BS, it will skip all of it and almost immediately put you in touch with a rep. Just be professional, and tell them you´re looking to jumpseat, wondering what the loads look like.

I use Airtran a LOT to get from MIA to MDW- the service is ALWAYS excellent, and they ALWAYS put me up in buisness class... except of course, the one time Ron Jeremy bought the last remaining Bid Class seat... tool!

Anyway, I´ve NEVER had a problem jumpseating on them, and they only charged me the $25 fee once, even though there were many occasions where I was the 2nd or 3rd jumpseater on the flight (Their policy is First One´s Free)

25 dollar jumpseat fee? what the? So it's not jumpseating then, it's buying a pass.

If you are the first offline guy to show up you get a seat in the back for free. If you're the second, third, etc then the company is supposed to charge you $25 or $30 for the ride...you could consider it buying a pass if you aren't the first offline guy to show up. The pilot group doesn't like it but it's what we have for now. FWIW, I haven't seen anyone get charged in the 6 months I've been here.

hmm, well, i guess you gotta do what you gotta do if you're a commuter.
I can't believe they try to make money off jumpseaters

I´ve done the MIA-MDW trip at least a dozen times, so with the stop in Atlanta that brings my jumpseating on AirTran up to maybe 24 individual legs now, plus or minus. I´ve only been charged once. So don´t fret- also, I´ve found that the service is even better if you offer the gate agent and crew some cookies or the like... small price to pay for the added comfort.

I've been denied on Delta several times with many, many seats open (I was the second offline guy that showed up) and they've told me to buy an ID90 so I can ride. Well an ID90 costs $100 each way for the city pair that I use and I have to buy it in advance from the pass bureau. Thirty bucks ain't that bad in comparison.

That being said, I really wish they'd go to an unlimited policy like we had at ACA/IDE back in the day. It really made commuting a lot better for everyone. Good luck!
