Yes.

You must allow yourself 2 UAL/express/codeshare flights to get to work. 1st must arrive 2 hours before show, 2nd must arrive 30 minutes prior to show. If you miss the 1st, you call your manager. They then have the right to positive space you on your second flight, or they can call a reserve until you can make it into your trip. All portions you miss will be without pay, but without consequences from the company.

I dont know how fantastic it is - I believe that is about the industry standard. Sure am glad that we have it though - I had to use it today after getting bumped of a UAL flight while I was literally in the jetway walking to the plane. As I was sitting in DAY trying to get to work I spoke with a Trans States guy who was trying to go to STL to start work this subject came up. I guess TSA doesnt have a commuter policy. When asked what they do if you dont make it in he thought for a moment and then shrugged his shoulders and said, "nothing good".

SkyWest has no policy either. If we miss a commute we talk to the Chief Pilot. If we can show that we really tried, two or three attempts for example, nothing usually happens. They can give us a "SAD" (scheduled assignment deviation) in our file which they say really means nothing. However, most of the SkyWest commuter pilots I know would definitely rather have a policy such as yours rather than have to worry if a SAD could ever be used against you.

I'm surprised Skywest doesn't have a policy. A reasonable, documented, commuter policy also helps protect the company from claims of harrassment or descrimination in case one pilot is treated differently than another.

Also encourages honesty between crews and crew scheduling. Many (myself excluded of course) call in sick last minute rather than calling in with a missed commute.

ASA also does not have a commuter policy. I have mixed opinions on this. Because of the lack of commuter clause, I have choosen to live in my undesirable domicile so that I don't have to deal with the headache. Our union is very actively trying to negotiate in a commuter policy into our new contract. If they are successful, I will feel that I am 'unprivileged' because I live at the domicile. I hate to take a management stance, and perhaps I wouldn't if I hadn't bought a house that I could easily unload. Perhaps, rather than a commuter clause, they should have a short notice trip drop policy pending reserve supply that would apply to all, not just those that live elsewhere.

But we don't really need one now with the August lines for ORD & IAD you have to basically commute in the day before for all those 5, 6 & 7AM shows.
