I am instrument rated and have 280 Hours, I am located in michigan and I am looking for a training facility in the midwest that has an accelerated commercial week long course? Any thoughts on where to go? Thanks

It may take a tad more than a week but Im doing my commercial at a local FBO here in Chicago Im looking at about 3 weeks to get it done going 5-7 times a week. Price isn't to bad, but you have to do it in a 210 which after my first flight today is a pretty big step up from the other planes Ive flown.

Do you have the written done? If you're serious about getting the commercial in a week, you'll already have the written done, you'll be able to describe (in detail) all of the commercial maneuvers and their PTS standards, and the PHAK should be nearly committed to memory. Also, you should be able to spit out a good portion of NTSB 830 and all of the 91 regs that will apply to you (more than you think). You should also be intimately familiar with complex aircraft systems.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but I just want you to realize what you are getting yourself into. If all you have to do is learn the maneuvers and polish your knowledge, it's completely doable with a very dedicated instructor. If you are walking into this thinking you'll sit there and be spoonfed everything you need to know in a week, you're either very sharp or very mistaken.

If you're highly motivated and interested in coming to Chicago, I can point you in the right direction.

Done, done, and done for me as for the other gentleman it prolly will take him more than a week if he doesn't have any of those line items completed.

I have all of the items you listed complete, I just need to spend time perfecting the maneuvers and preparing one on one for the oral.

Be able to read a VFR sectional, plan a cross country course, navigate that course, and divert in air on that course. Most people who fail the commercial in my experience are people who don't know Class A/B/C/D/G airspace, can't explain symbols on a VFR chart, get lost (scary for 250+hr pilots) on their cross country, etc.

People focus way to much on the maneuvers.

We have an accelerated commercial course.
