Hard Landing

Where in the report does it say they totaled the airplane?

The report is not even close to factual. They had a dual Gen failure at 12:30am coming out of TJSJ when it happened. They tried to get into the nearest airport but unfortunatly the local authorities could not find the keys to turn on the airport lights.

They attempted a landing in the middle of the night with no runway lighting and no aircraft lights. Landing extremly hard and over running the runaway by 500ft they ripped off the right landing gear and right tip tank twisting the fuselage. The imapct was so hard it ripped the throttle cable from the right engine leaving the engine to run all nigh long at a high power setting. The next day the finally got the engine shut down.

What? They couldn't shut the engine down with the fire/T Handle?
Something not right with this story.

The T-handle actuates a electrically controled solenoid (Firewall Shutoff)shutting off fuel to the engine with no Battery or Gen there is no way to get power to close the firewall shut off. The only mechanical link is between the throttles and the engines. $hitty system. .
