    737 Operators?

I just got an email note that someone posted to this thread. Holy cow, 1-4-2002 was the day I made that post. I'll bet some of you guys were teens then. Keep the dirty side down....

Would you like to work in SW Florida? CFI Wanted

I remember talk of a pilot shortage years ago. There is only a shortage of American pilots who will work for a given wage. I can easily see airlines getting visas for huge numbers of foreign pilots, just like in medicine, IT, etc. No shortage.

    Multi Time Building

If I recall, we had a lengthy discussion here several years ago about SIC time. I think the gist of it was that SIC time is logged when you are serving as SIC in an aircraft where an SIC is a required crew member. When I instruct, I am PIC, because everything that happens during that flight is...

    Colgan 3407 Down in Buffalo

I guess a lot of things have changed since the site changed hands. I miss those days. I had over 200 posts just "vanish." As far as the yaw damper is concerned, is someone here saying that the yaw damper played a role in the Colgan crash somehow?

I just couldn't resist the temptation. At least some of the old crew is still here. ;D

    Wow- U Saw Who??

Wow. An old thread revived. Hmm. Media people first, from my old job in broadcasting. Jack Lemmon Earl Flynn’s grand-daughter, Rory, who was dating Alan White of Yes The rest of Yes, many times. Partied with Jon and his wife, Jenni. Phil Collins with his splinter band...

Some fun, Tall people and the Lear.

Gee. Here I thought I was an actual pilot. Seriously, Bill Lear was a clever man and a prolific inventor, but the accomodation of pilot needs was clearly his lowest priority. You only have to look at the 35 vs the 55 to see the quantum leap from the 20 and 30 series to the 55, 45, and 60...

Some fun, Tall people and the Lear.

Jeeze...I just realized that my post above was made almost three years ago. The 60 is a larger cockpit, even a little larger than the 55 if I recall correctly. I was only in one of them. I didn't realize it at the time, but that post was made during my last 14 days as a working pilot. I...

    Non-aviation, need insight from techs

When you find the next job, send me a private message here. I have about $40k of snap-on and other brands, along with an S-O Intimidator tool box with two end cabinets. It can go for half of what I paid for it. Good stuff, no initials engraved, etc. Fractional and metric. If I could sell my...

Single engine Turbine VS twin piston time

As a means to an end, if you are sure you want to angle for the gold at the end of the rainbow, then go for some low pay and poor conditions (the low end of the aviation scale is like that) with the idea that someday you'll be well compensated. That percentage of bright young pilots that realize...

    St. Maarten (tncm)

Ah, Orient Beach. When I sell a few more luxury homes...... :) At any rate, we only stayed at the Maho. Maybe it was just because it had the lowest rates, or maybe Arrendale had a deal set up; I'm not certain. We used to get this little white Corolla from the car and cellphone rental place...

Young Middle Eastern man,Arabic Hat, flight lessons

This one argument that keeps popping up is misguided. First, we have not seen multiple examples of people fitting the Oklahoma City example attacking us all over the world. In fact, we have only this one example. I don't know if we have any "eco-terrorists" that fir the description. Second...

    Les Abend

Count me in. When I was a child, my dad had a stack of Flying next to the can, on the windowsill and the radiator. I had heard about ground effect before I could factor an equation. Those were good days. Too bad nobody publishes a magazine that counters the PFT crap we see now. :(

    Dealing With Teenage Students

Bingo. Lose a friend, make an enemy or two, and change schools if it comes down to it. Don't get caught up in letting this kind of thing, which could have been on the evening news all over America if it had gone ka-ka, to go by. You could also ask for the safety progam manager to stop by...
