the last 3 months of 2004 and the first 3 months of 2005 i was flying a twin beech in puerto rico.
on feb 17 i was departing culebra and my elevator cable broke. (apparently if you taxi over a pot hole in a be 18, the tail will start bouncing violently and the elevator cable can jump the...
I'm definetly hyper sensitive to holding up revenue customers trying to check in, etc. if that's the case i stay out of the way. but if you pass through the terminal as part of your day, you can catch an agent that's free. i once inadvertently tied up the non rev phone line for a pretty long...
ATA's pretty darn reliable.
i prefer to go to their check in counter at an airport a day ahead and try and get listed, instead of calling the phone number. list for your round trip then and there. sometimes the flights are full though. i had that GREAT LAKES takes 135 guys and maybe CHICAGO...
I spent a year researching distance learning colleges.
if you've got a bunch of credits from different sources, and no degree, this is the best place. it's in Connecticut
the post on the caravan crash in florida reminded me of a AEROFLOT A310 crash about 10 ago.
The CApt was letting his 13 year old son sit in the left seat in cruise. The autopilot got knocked off and they did a split S. The SIC almost recovered the plane, but not quite.
unreal.
I know these dirt bikers that were recently having a party.
for kicks, they torched a car and were sliding across the hood. One guy fell into the drivers seat, inhaled smole and later died.
suppose you're a cessna 150 instructor and you're offered a job flying DC-10's, but it's in Pakistan. Do you take it ? (the pays decent).
this is hypothetical.
there's a floatplane/heli port in sausalito.
search around for it on the internet and and then ask them.
there's a couple monthly newspaper type magazines (pacific flyer.com) that list FBO's offering helo training in the bay area - those schools would know.
i think nice air, near san jose...
when i need work, driving a taxi works pretty well. I like the all night shift, picking up drunks from bars, etc.
i got fired from flying sky divers in twin otters a couple weeks ago. my boss thought he was donald trump ("you'r e fired"! (he wanted me to wash the planes on my days off).
I heard that Coast Guard student aviator's at Pensacola are known as "Dept of Transportation guys" and are therefore considered second rate. What's up with that ?
this is true; I was at a floatplane tour company the other day. They fly Beavers.
the receptionist was a young guy. He's an AF Academy grad and flew AF beech 400's. He was getting assigned to C 5's when he decided that glass panels isn't where it's at. He decided instead to do the float...
evergreen aviation is converting a 747 for firebombing.
the idea is that one of these will be equal to about 10 c-130's. The plane's supposed to cover a huge region, like the western US, and fly around and kick a_s on fires. It's supposed to make the drops with gear and flaps down.
I've got a 1979 Suzuki GS1000 GT (L).
It seems to me a 500 cc bike would be better on gas mileage, etc. What's the advantage of all that extra power ? does it help on long trips ? with two people ? going up hills ? It seems like I just use a fraction of the available power on a regular...
I've decided that aviating is in the same leaque as people who participate in polo tournaments (with horses), etc, etc, etc - ie. the really well off.
I'm completely burnt out on sending out resumes.
It's like candidate John Edwards said a few nights ago; "there's two America's; one's...
OK;
i heard that a lady passed away while watching Passion of the Christ, in Wichita KS. Apparently a nurse in the theater tried to revive her.
That got me wondering if I'd remember what to do in a similar sitauation, based a 25 year old CPR course.
Basically, you pump on the person's chest...
here's the thing about that depth deception test with the rings;
a new nurse once gave me that test and I totally flunked. then an experienced eye doc gave me a re test and he said; hold the card right up to your nose - I did and passed easily ! (and it's not cheating )
I own it. It's a GS1000L. I bought it at a garage sale for $200 and put about $1200 into rebuilding it. The mechanic said it only had 4000 miles on it. There's some kind of drive chain rubbing sound coming from near the front tire (under the speedometer)
