    Age 65 2007

I think once one turns 60 they should be given the option to fly until 65 as a First Officer only. Those which lost some of their pensions can still earn a very good living in the right seat and those that wish to hold the left seat are not penalized for five more years from stagnation.

    CAL hiring 80 per month?

F'n Newby wants it all. Let me guess - you also want a DTW base.

    Senator Santorum's response to S. 65

I emailed Senator Santorum to express my opposition to S. 65. The following is his response. Dear Mr. XXXXXXXX: Thank you for contacting me regarding age restrictions of pilots. I appreciate hearing from you and having the benefit of your views. Over 40 years ago, as the face of world...

    JetBlue or Continental?

If jetBlue merges with an ALPA carrier you WILL get screwed.

    Serious Question: CAL or FEDEX

Night flying isn't the problem. Its the changing of sleep cycles. You know, day to night to night to day. Do a google search for NASA Sleep Study.

    Serious Question: CAL or FEDEX

Call BS if you want. Your math is correct but there is no way in hell I'd be a wide body capt. at FDX! I wouldn't even be a 727 capt. Sure I could hold it by seniority but being on the bottom of any seat at FedEx sucks. I'd be a WB f/o by choice. I was lucky and got hired by FedEx at 26. Now...

    Serious Question: CAL or FEDEX

my 2 cents I debated posting this but WTF. I left FedEx for Continental. I was at FedEx for 4.5 years. Just over 2 years on the 72 panel and 2 years right seat 72. I really didn't enjoy flying cargo. I found it very boring and difficult to feel well rested. It wasn't that I couldn't do it, it...

    Fired - Need Advice

BTS, Don't beat yourself up over this. I know this airline well. They have washed out some very good pilots over the years. Consider this as a very tough learning experience. I think the IOE instructors might be a little to blame as well. Have you ever heard the 3 to 1 rule? When trying to...

    ALPA watching out for us?!

Air Cargo News January 2003 "AT WHOSE EXPENSE FEDEX" Walk into any FedEx shipping center and you might be surprised at what the integrator with $21 billion dollars in annual throughput offers. No longer a one-trick niche company today, you can choose various speeds and levels of service and...

    ALPA watching out for us?!

Like I said, you have the leverage TODAY. The transfer won't happen immediately, but it will happen. Over time FedEx will grow less dependent on Express air domestic and more on ground. Do you know what the fastest growing domestic transportation company is in history? It's FedEx Ground via RPS...

    ALPA watching out for us?!

O.K. Tony. Let me see if I understand how FedEx works - Box is dropped at station A by customer, sits 'til plane leaves to fly to sort, box is sorted and put on airplane going to destination city, box arrives at destination city with enough time to be delivered via ground shipper to customer by...

    ALPA watching out for us?!

Sure Tony. I'll do that. Like I said before, I think you may be setting yourself up for a major let down. Good luck.
