Counting Rotorcraft Time Towards an ATP

This was my experience as well when getting an ATP MEL on top of an existing Comm Helo & SEL while I was on active duty flying the BE-200. Except that the FAA examiner who did my check ride came back afterwards to confirm that my cross country time was "all airplane time". As I did have 500...

    Reselling charter service?

Thanks for your response. Found a DOT enforcement bulletin that pretty clearly prohibits what is being proposed. airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/rules/BrokerNoticeFinal.pdf

    Reselling charter service?

Opinions (supported by regs if possible). Can a non-certificated non-aviation company charter for the sole-use of an aircraft (i.e. for 100% of the aircraft availability) and then sell off some or all of that capability to other non-certificated non-aviation companies? The scenario here is...

Question for Navy Fixed Wing Guys

Minimum 200 feet for activation of autopilot or yaw damper. Yaw damper activation item 6 on the climb checklist. PNF activate no lower than 200 feet. Yaw Damper activate button is on the autopilot mode select panel, so it sounds like they were just complying with the climb checklist (at...

    Marines G4

Lynxman, You can get some info from the last aviation plan (ca. 2007). Plans change of course, and you're going to be busy for several years before you hit the fleet, so who knows? The C-40 transition is off the end of the timeline on page 77, estimating 2018. Plan can be found at this link...

    Marines G4

Yep, it's primarily flown by the reserves though some AD guys also participate. We also have Citations, King Airs, and a couple of C9Bs that are planned to convert to C-40s. Lynxman, you'll have to get through a full commitment (8 years or so) before you could reasonably expect to get into one...

    Retirement Pay?

It depends on your income level. I hit that magic number where I pay neither more nor less than the previous year. So I had to manually increase my witholding to compensate.

    Retirement Pay?

Mine did as well. It's a pain because it just means I have to increase the withholding manually in either the retirement system or in my current job. We didn't get a tax cut, they're just trying to put more money in our pockets so we'll spend and invigorate the economy.

Mandatory Retirement Age at 91K/135 Operations

He was Class of '63 from the Air Force Academy, so that would have made him about 65 or a bit older.

    Marine Pilot Slots

I agree with the folks who say to be aggressive in your pre-OCS training. But ensure that you get a good rest day a week, eat right and lay off the booze. If you think you're on the verge of injuring yourself, back off on the intensity or take a few days off from the activity that is bothering...

    Free-fall Autorotate?

Actually, the torque from the autorotating main rotor feeds back into the main transmission, and the friction in the drivetrain actually drives the airframe out of balance in the opposite direction from powered flight. To stay in trimmed flight and reduce your rate of descent, you have to feed...

Another Comair rumor - 80 Airplanes

I was a Summer 2002 hire that left Comair (and the industry) in 2004. What class date are the forecast furloughs back to? Just checking on my training class, bunch of good guys (and gals).
