You really dug up a 4 year old thread to post that??? You really have to be the saddest individual on the board. I'm amazed such a wanker can still type.
While I do agree that pilot pay has little to do with accidents and errors, not all of those listed were caused by pilot error. I'm not going to look up the whole list, but If you read the report on the USAir/Skywest runway collision in LAX in 91 that was controller error and ATC shortcomings...
And there have been a lot of accidents at majors over the past few decades that could have and should have been avoided... Plenty of high-time, high-dollar pilots have dug smoking holes with their mistakes.
Which cause is that? Because all I've seen is speculation, and enough jumping to conclusions to get it in the Olympics. Or are you talking about the cause that will be determined at a future time?
Oh, and no matter how much this crew may or may not have screwed up when the final finding comes...
If you're in a position where you can devote the time to going to Nursing school, do it! You can always finish the ERAU degree at a later date if you want it, but the RN will give you a solid fallback plan and/or part-time gig to supplement flying.
The genius at CNN is saying that the PC12 may have been a stunt plane, or that it may be a small cessna plane...but this is the same genius who is simulataneously reporting that the FedEx MD11 down in Tokyo would have at least one pilot, and possibly also a copilot onboard...
They are saying...
CNN now reporting one person taken off, though they dont know the condition. They are also saying that this aircraft would have 'at least one pilot, and maybe a copilot'...so at least they are up to their usual standards of useful information.
cpberry, congratulations sir! What you have done is hijack a flight to Kinshasa and taken it to Barbados!!
I did a little home brewing about 9 years ago with another airline buddy. The first two batches were lumpy and vile, but after that it got pretty good. We did a Pilsner, a Brown Ale...
Thanks dude, but at the moment I'm having a blast teaching the 737 at the big airline down the road.
Glad to hear the 76 thing is coming through for you guys. I havent talked to any SATS buddies in a while but I'll let you know if I hear anything new.
Where did the 'severe icing' thing come from? Listening to the ATC tapes nobody on there mentions 'severe' icing. The ice-related comments, even when the controller askes about ice seem more consistent with light, maybe moderate icing, but nothing anywhere close to severe.
To me, the approach clearance readback sounded perfectly normal, and as you say typical of someone looking forward to the end of the day. Listening to the tower handoff though she sounds a little preoccupied. Just my speculative observation though. People with lots more training than I will...
It's in all our natures to wonder and speculate after an accident...Ice...weather...mechanical...crew...it's part of the analytical nature of pilots, but still, a gear problem is reaching quite a bit.
