    Freight Dawg The Movie

Action Adventure. HA! ROFLMAO! An "action thriller" eh? Sort of reminds me of that scene from "Fandango" when Judd Nelson poses as an "Action Adventure Editor" for a local newspaper and jumps out of the plane with a load of laundry on his back! Too funny. Flying lead tainted plastic out of...

    Atlas Scab Lawsuit-adr Concluded

Scab basics. This is gonna get stupid again, real quick. Bottom line: --Polar went on strike. --Polar airplanes sat on the ground entire time. --There was no scabbing by Atlas or Polar. No scabbing. Period. Dot. End of sentence.

DOT Awards Polar Air Cargo Four Additional China Frequencies

Get over it already Neither of you who continue to bicker almost one year later are doing any of us any favors. Let me remind furloughfodder why Atlas flew: 1) We never had the luxury of a strike vote 2) The judge ordered Atlas to fly. See? No rhetoric. No lies. Just facts....almost...

    Which is faster?

Confusion Ok whatever. The debate I was referring to was the original "Which is faster" question. I think we got our wires crossed. GVFlyer is indeed a gentleman and a scholar. Now leave me alone.:)

    Which is faster?

What? No discussion? Well. I didn't say who I agreed with, but there seems to be some disagreement.

What does "Viscinity of an airport" mean???

You got it. My understanding is that the AC (5-10 miles) is pretty much the accepted standard. Anything else can't be interpreted as more conservative and therefore would be harder to defend in court. CYA. Good luck.

"VFR on top" clearance. . .

Late reply Sorry about the late reply. Yeah. You depart an IFR airport, go do your visual maneuvers on top and then go back and shoot the approach. You don't want to cancel because then you gotta start from scratch. It's just more efficient. Clear as mud, right? :)

    Which is faster?

No question Absolutely no question here. An empty 747 will descend faster for the same IAS. By the way, interesting discussion so far. I think a new debate (like Pitch vs. Power) has been born.

"VFR on top" clearance. . .

Clearance limit This sounds like you were filed to some fix (the limit of your clearance) where you expected to be "on top" and intended to cancel. That's totally different than receiving an explicit "maintain VFR-on-top" clearance. Just like the clearance to enter Class B airspace...

    Creatine and Drug Testing

Guitar rocker Hey Guitar rocker, actually I do work out. I just don't eat bull testicles. It was the "double dose of andro" comment that worried me. What the hell is andro? It sounds like a hormone.

"VFR on top" clearance. . .

So don't use it. I thought Asquared gave a good example of when it comes in handy. Nobody is forcing you to request this service. Just because you don't have a use for it doesn't make it senseless.

What are our regionals doing wrong?

Usually the customer is always right It seems to me everyone wants something for nothing. Everyone wants air travel to be comfortable, convenient and pleasant, but nobody wants to pay for it. Not only that, but the law of Economies of Scale say that one 747 between LAX and SFO is more...

    Creatine and Drug Testing

Huh? I have no idea what you're talking about but I suspect you're a very hairy man. Good luck.

    Atlas Jumpseat info

It ain't gonna be easy I wish I had better news for you. We (Atlas) don't have any flights into BRU this entire month. I checked ORD to Europe and there's one flight this weekend that stops in JFK (26 hours for scheduled mx) and then continues on to Prestwick, Scotland (PIK). From there...

"VFR on top" clearance. . .

Let me think... ...ok, ok, I can see you're gonna make me work for this one. I was just hoping you'd take my word for it, but let me think of an example... Let's say you're in a training situation and you want to do some airwork. The airport is IFR, so you file a flight plan from airport...

"VFR on top" clearance. . .

Flexibility Not every corner of the nation is glowing with radar coverage and saturated with VOR coverage. Sometimes you want the flexibility of flying VFR with the ability to remain IFR. It's the best of both worlds.
  17. mar

"VFR on top" clearance. . .

Two different things There are two different operations: 1) VFR-on-top 2) VFR over the top. The first one is an IFR clearance where you must maintain VFR cloud clearances. The second one is a VFR operation where you must maintain VFR cloud clearances. You can report the tops when you...

Did I say that? Yeah that sounds like something I'd say: Pure brilliance. Thanks for reminding me. Actually, there is (was) a requirement for a positive rate of climb on light twins Ref...

What are our regionals doing wrong?

Short answer Back to the original question... ...it's not just the regionals. It's the entire system. Here's my short answer: Everybody got what they wanted--except airline employees. The various mangements wanted deregulation and got it. The passengers wanted cheap fares and hourly...

Is Todays' airline pilot career really flying?

Right! I usually hand fly the departure until we're cleaned up, heading in the right direction, and there's a pause in the chaos so I can say, "Autopilot 'B' to Command." A few months ago, as we're climbing thru about 5000', when I asked for the autopilot the Capt called me a "Pu$$y." All...
