Ahhh...you forgot about the pilot shortage. :o)
Seriously though, that will likely force the issue upon the airlines and government. The technology already exists to make this happen right now. Current aircraft can be retrofitted. It won't require refleeting.
There are many who once said...
A five figure settlement is a payoff to avoid the expense and hassle factor of a trial. This was a strong eight figure settlement. 10 years of salary for all of ALPA's lawyers doesn't equate to the payoff here.
So that's why the Association just had to cough up untold millions to settle their case against them? While a settlement is no admission of guilt it's a sure acknowledgement of liability.
So in one year at delta you go from new hire in training to senior line holder with all weekends, holidays and special events off? Cherry picking the best trips for yourself? Living in domicile?
That must be some pretty amazing stuff you're smoking.
Just a couple months ago this whole mess was called Pinnacle Airlines and the Pinnacle ALPA MEC. How is the handing out of surplus shirts with our name as of a couple months ago offensive to you? I'm sure if they had any surplus Mesaba MEC shirts they would give those out as well. I know I would...
Clearly you don't desire the battle royal being given a rest if you also can't resist the urge to pile on. The only thing this merger has made abundantly clear is that Pinnacle and Mesaba pilots are cut from the same cloth and that any differences between them are perception only.
More specifically, dual qual with everyone's base pay set the lowest rate. You only make the override rate when your butt is in the seat. Call in sick? Base rate. Vacation? Base rate. Under guarantee? Base rate. Etc.
Simple fact....in the decade from 2000-2010, pinnacle grew by over 400%. Mesaba shrank by nearly 50%. In business terms, that is a marketplace failure.
Pinnacle had some of the best performance stats of any airline in America for most of the past decade. Senior management never could figure out labor relations but they were ruthless in pursuing the synthetic metrics that executives use to weigh and measure airlines. Generally, pilots have a...
Every Scab who has ever scabbed has used the same "I have to pay my mortgage" justification. This wasn't an issue of crossing a picket line and every pilot had a choice from legitimate options in this matter but spare us from the you have to pay your mortgage bit. The fact that the threat of job...
Hold on here...I thought the great and powerful DALPA negotiated delta down to 125 50-seaters? Isn't that why you allowed addition 76-seaters and proclaimed victory in the reduction of outsourced flying? Now you say RA was going to reduce the 50-seat fleet regardless? Sounds to me like you got took.
