Logging of Level C or D Simulator Time

According to FAR Part 61.1(b)(12), training time or dual given in an aircraft, sim or even an FTD is considered "pilot time". I log sim and FTD dual time as part of my total pilot time according to this reg, but not as airplane, PIC, or ME time.

    LDA/Glide Slope Approach: Precision?

Thank you for your responses. I think this can be debated forever. According to FAR Part 1, it defines it as a precision approach, but it is still hard to call it one. There is an LDA approach to DCA where there is a glide slope, but it takes you only to an MDA where you then have to fly...

    LDA/Glide Slope Approach: Precision?

I heard that at the ACA interview, they ask about an LDA/Glide slope approach, namely the LDA 6 in ROA. It is so hard to get a straight answer. The FAR/AIM says that an approach with an electronic glide slope (like this approach) is a precision approach, but many say since it is an LDA, it is...

    renewal of CFI certificate

Renewing based on pass rate? I know the regs say 4 out of 5 students must have passed in the last 24 months. So can I just pick 5 students that I have recommended (where at least 4 have passed on 1st attempt), and show that to the FSDO? Or do I have to tell them about every student I have...

    Piedmont Hiring!

Actual IFR According to Piedmont's website, they require 125 Actual IFR; and PSA rquires 100. How strict are they at that minimum? I think that it's hard to get that time, especially flying in Florida. I have over 1200 hours and try to fly as often as I can under actual, but still I only...

    Piedmont Hiring!

More Questions Thanks for replying. Can you please post what Piedmont's pay scale is? And about how it is to fly for them? Also, is it hard to hold a Florida base as a new hire? Thanks a lot.

    ATP written

ATP Written Advise First of all, you legally must be 21 to take the written. Also, the best and easiest way to take the written is go to ATP flight school, they have branches all around the country. They offer a two day course, where on day one, you sit in front of a computer all day and look...

    Logging PIC in a Complex/HighPerformance

If a person does not have a complex/HP sign-off in their logbook, can he still log it as PIC, since he is rated in that aircraft and class? My understanding is that there is a difference between logging and acting as PIC. So that when initially receiving training in a single-engine complex or...

    Gold Seal CFI

Question about Pass Rate I'm wondering if sending a student for a self-examining Part 141 End-of-Course checkride counts as part of the demonstrated 80% to renew/get gold seal. If so, then I guess every student would be a pass, even if they fail on their first attempt, because it's a training...
