Just about everybody considers Atlas to have a better contract than us. I don't think anyone thinks it's so much better that they would give up Captain pay to go to the bottom of the Atlas seniority list to start again as a junior F.O.
I have heard from a friend in Atlas ground school a few...
I'm just curious who you heard saying that Kalitta captains were leaving for Atlas. People at the Atlas booth? I haven't heard of anybody here jumping ship but there is a lot that I don't hear!
Unless it's a quick turn (no on loading or offloading freight) the stops for a 747 are a minimum of 3-4 hours. If it's just taking on gas we (at Kalitta Air) have turned in as little as 45 minutes.
This helped A LOT! Thanks very much for this tip. I have my new status pending with AT+T and a date set to make it retroactive. You just saved me hundreds of dollars. Beers are on me if we ever meet on the road.
I am sitting in upgrade class now at Kalitta and yesterday I saw a list of about 25 interviewees. There were a bunch in the building looking sharp. Sounds like we will be interviewing many for the foreseeable future. Not just those on the list.
Things are looking really good here right now.
I think many people forget that we are tradesmen. It's great to have the apprenticeship done (licenses in hand) but the other important factor is experience. Like every other trade we need to build our experience and it isn't easy. It involves a huge amount of sacrifice and it doesn't pay off...
OK brothers and sisters. Connie himself said during our "pizza meeting" on Wednesday that we were definitely getting 2 new flyable -400's then later said the number 4. I honestly couldn't figure out what he meant by "4". No one really did. Slip of the tongue? Deal not solidified?. Regardless...
Oh and to clarify about that fourth -400... it is indeed purchased but it's a passenger plane and Connie only bought it for the engines. So as it stands we are still operating three -400's (and a whole lot more classics).
Looking at kalittaair.com and careers i found... nothing (regarding pilots)! I was kind of surprised. But a little more digging and I found...
Resume: [email protected]
I'd start there and see if you got a reply within a few days. I'll check back here with more information once I ask...
I'm in recurrent ground school now. Our fourth 747-400 is supposedly purchased, 4 more are being negotiated. Hiring starts full tilt early this summer. These are the rumors but can it hurt to get your resume in now just in case the vapor planes solidify?
Myself, JG, RL are the only JUS guys I can think of and yes, we're safe for now. Until the next cut. Who else is here from JUS?
PM me SZ's last name I know who you're talking about but I can't remember his last name...
That is great! Thanks for sharing. My girlfriend and I are building a giant Lego house so lately Legos are very symbolic for us!
Heres a link to a little photo journal I am keeping of the process... The pics take a minute to load sometimes...
As far as future classes go, all elligible FO's have had the chance to get into a 400 class. So unless (like me) elligible guys change their mind later on, all 400 FO's will be from off the street.
My girlfriend is in training for Delta now and we were both wondering what the rumors at each of the airlines were regarding flight attendants. Has there been talk of the type of integration of the senority lists? Fear of furloughs immediately following the merger? Any other info?
thanks!
