SWA searching for more deals, SWAPA salivating----article

I started flying to Canada and Mexico in an RJ when I was 23 years old. I think the guys at SWA will be well prepared to figure out this "challenging" flying. I don't even call it international. Honestly, the largest negative I could see to SWA is the additional time it takes for crewmembers...

Why is FL180 the fixed TL in the US?

What about Mexico, where transition altitude is 18,500 feet, while transition level is FL195? Why the discrepancy?

    Swa Pool 2

Any rumors on what competitive minimums might be this time around? I imagine fairly high with so many ex-B737 pilots who are on the street after the ATA and Aloha liquidations.

Are you kidding? He doesn't have his own cars. He has a limo drive him around.

    MDW Commuters

I figured as much. That is good to hear, because the crashpad setup around MDW is one of the best around. Thanks for the tips all. I called Daley and told him I needed a yellow badge. If I don't get one, I plan on putting big X's through his driveway. I know where he lives. :D

    MDW Commuters

OK thanks. I'm checking into it... parking at MDW is tougher than parking at ORD, and the ORD lots are on the airport secure area. But we have to leave the secure area to go back through security. Yeah...

    MDW Commuters

For those commuting out of MDW, have you found any type of commuter parking? I was told crews can get the yellow badge access like in ORD, but now I'm hearing otherwise. Thanks!

    Sat-mdw

Yes, the second jumpseat sucks. It is uncomfortable. However, getting a missed trip and losing 25 hours of pay is worse! :D PTinbound, thanks. I'm going to try it out for a while, and see how it goes. Might have to do a little two-leggin'.

Excellent, thanks all. Only four with one jumpseat? Wow. I didn't know there was that few.

Question for the SWA folks if you don't mind. I'm soon going to start commuting from Chicago to San Antonio, and I've been looking at using SWA primarily for the commute because of the destinations we serve (bypassing deadheads). Any commuters know if the SAT-MDW run is heavy for commuters? I...

Hey Vlad, if you are going to post my picture under that tagline, at least get it right. I don't use gel. Geez. It's sad the lowly lives some of you live.

    EEEK, Typical Mesa schedule

Yeah cforst, it's basically on-call duty periods. You'll have your "reserve days", which are periods of time which you are responsible for a callout. It varies between airlines, but normally you'll find a 12-15 hour duty day, with a two hour callout. Example: You have reserve Monday through...

    MDW Commuters

Yeah I have a parking pass and commute through ORD now, but the flights are usually full and of course the delays. Was trying to cut down a bit on the commute. Ah well. Could be worse. Nothing like commuting between two of the most delay-prone airports in the country. :puke:
