Other than rail, how else does the oil get out of ND? Trucking it out can't be cheaper.

    Delta recall

There are 203 on bypass as of the last senority list. You can bypass for 10 years. I'm guessing at least the top half of the list can keep bypassing until 2015/2016. Delta gives people over 10 years one more chance to go back between 10 and 14 years. You have to either go back when they...

    C-17 lands at wrong airport.

The other crew members were probably KC-135 aircrews coming back from deployment.

    Delta 5 day domestic trips

On the 727 in DTW the 5 days were great for commuters and about 80% commuted.

No more O2 mask--if you act now

The Air Force's rule is the pilot in the seat has the mask on when above FL350 with the other pilot is out of the seat. So I think the FAA was trying to match that.

    KC-135's

The KC-135 has a 14' diameter fuselage and the 707 has a 16' diameter fuselage. They both started at a 14' diameter. Boeing decided to increase the 707 to 16' and the Air Force keep the KC-135 at 14'. Also the KC-135 has about 15' less of wingspan.

    USAF Academy or ROTC

The students that consistantly did the best (my point of view from when I was a student and a T-37 IP) were the USAFA soaring instructors (glider IP's). Also, I don't think your degree has any bearing on how well you do in pilot training.

    Cincinnati area

This thread is titled "Cincinnati area" but most everyone is really talking about Northern Kentucky. I lived on the north side of Cincinnati (Mason) for 9 years and it is nothing like Northern Kentucky. So the phrase "Cincinasty" should be "NoKenNasty". Every Comair guy seems to want to live...

    Guard vs Reserves

Orginally posted by Bssthound: "A big difference in the long run is that the Guard's annual training is comprised of "State Mandays." A manday is an active duty day. I don't know the official name for them. You can perform as many as they'll give you; unfortunately, after the first 15 they no...

Tankers (KC-135's and KC-10's) use the Reach callsign sometimes. It depends on the mission.

Non-tech pilot slots coming to an end?

If you couldn't take a little "hazing" (which is nothing like it use to be), then you're going to have a very difficult time in UPT. You'll probably quit when you're in Del Rio, TX working 12 hour days and having to study on your off time, since you enjoy your freedom. If freshman year at the...

    KC-135 seasoning period

For Tanker pilots in the guard you get 45 days of active duty for seasoning, otherwise known as "seasoning days". Other than those days, most new copilots "guard bum" to get experience(and money) and upgrade quicker.

    What's up at NWA?

Here's part of a message from our MEC meeting going on this week: Next, Airline analyst Michael Boyd gave his opinions to the MEC about the airline industry and NWA. He stated that less demand in the industry has caused a 20 percent reduction in revenue. This change, combined with low-cost...

    Logging training time in upt

Your pilot training time will show up on your military flight records in one column as "student time". It won't be split out to primary, secondary, instructor, etc. as all the flights after you get your wings are. The answer to your question depends on whether you're asking about your civilian...

Draginass, Please remember before you imply that academy guys are stupid or idiots, that it wasn't an academy grad or cadet who did it . Also, my dad and I are grads so I've known about academy stuff my whole life and I've never hear of anyone doing this. That includes the Vietnam situation.
