    F-4 v. F-16

kind of obscure and hard to find (see amazon). but check out "Pak Six" by Geno Basel. Excellent read about a thud driver's existence as a young captain at a time when you had 60% chance of getting shot down prior to 100. Unlike Thud Ridge or When Thunder Rolled, there's little politics in this...

    Northrop quits tanker bid?

I wouldnt exactly say that the 330 was/is a more capable airframe. . There are a few aircraft that are very abundent in theatre that can't fly fast enough to refuel off of it (not have trouble. . .they cannot no matter what weight/configuration). This alone would be a show stopper for me if you...

Pentagon to triple the number of drones

based on your logic, all future war will be on OUR soil. . . How exactly are extremist muslims less aggressive/dangerous than imperialist Japanese, that ate the organs of our Grandfolks? because they have less money/infrastructure does not make them less dangerous, in fact it adds desperation...

Pentagon to triple the number of drones

If you (or any caucasion American for that matter) had been walking down that same street showering them with love and tidings of peace on that afternoon, where would you be right now? You're right in that there are at times, questionable decisions made by our country's leaders but that of...

Pentagon to triple the number of drones

rez, i have read alot of your posts and have just 2 observations to make concerning your beliefs. 1.) if every American had your political views there would be 10,000's of mutilated, unarmed, American infidels hanging from every bridge in Amercia (at the hands of your media's "innocent...

we have those on the gas-wagon too although we have to bring our helmets just incase we have to bail out (without parachutes mind you, they ditched those in the name of fuel savings, i am told)

dont have anything on europe but if you ever need anything on the pacific, specifically Taffy 3 and Leyte Gulf (battle off samar etc), i have hours of taped interviews i did with my uncle (pilot with VC3) i got before he passed. Good luck and thanks for keeping their legacy alive. .Appreciation...

    Why We Need the F-22

it doesnt help the situation when defense contractors always come in over budget behind schedule and with a flawed product. Vendors run slobbering to government contracts because they know its a blank check guarded by bulldogs with rubber teeth. . The world's best combat aircraft were created...

    T-38 replacement??

having worked the program and seen it inside and out, i would like to see cessna bid with their original jpats proof that they bid against the T-6 in the 90's. .it was a tandem twin jet with very low wing load, alot of power and very nice avionics. had a slightly more aggressive variant of the...

    US-owned Su-27

how does the checkout go if it's a single seater? Do most of the examiners/trainers have airframe access or would one checkout in a generic airframe like an L39 or something. . ?

    US-owned Su-27

what does one do to get "checked out" in such an airframe. . ? There was a very low time, fresh Mig 21 on ebay last week for 40k (cheaper than a vette, although probably close to $3.5k an hour to operate). We were having a discussion around the water cooler here at Garmin about how cool it would...

    FW AD to RW ANG

absolutely. . and it works the other way too. I know a ton of guard dudes in FW jets that came from army/navy helos too. Some even in fighter units with RW background. . Guard/Reserves will hire any airframe background. . . IF they want you. .I would think a strike dude would be very marketable...
