Had a buddy that was on the interview list at Bid D, just before everything ground to a halt. He told me, at the time, that 2000 PIC turbine was competetive. Might be lower for MIL folks. And, of course, the internal recommendations make a huge difference.
During the logbook review in my interview last summer, the guy asked "No checkride busts?" I replied - no. His response: "Well that's unusual!" Still didn't get the job. No one that interviewed that day got the job.
Forget the hours, give that guy a medal for actually logging 24000 hrs!
For the guy in the U2 - that's a hell of a lot of time in a tough to fly airplane, probably flying in places that aren't real friendly! Just doesn't compare to anyone driving an airliner bus!
I was number six, at the age of 41, in my class of 24. There were nine vacancies for the 737. It went right down the line, the nine oldest decided on the 737. I think the youngest to get the 737 was about 37.
The following classes had more of a 50/50 ratio, might have gone younger.
It...
I interviewed at Continental a few months ago. My application showed a significant military background, so they naturally asked quite a few questions about it. Not a big deal there, but then one interviewer, who had a Marine Aviator background, started asking a number of questions about my...
Not sure what you mean by they are done, but I too have had some difficulty getting a bag order filled. I ordered a bag two months ago, hadn't received it, the CC had been charged up front. Tried calling their number, 877-946-4626, without luck. I had their brochure, since the initial order...
Don't forget the BEST benefit of Tricare is that you will still have coverage past the age of 60 (or 65) when your airline kicks you out the door!
That's the only reason I'm still drillin'!
Rational for updating a First Class Medical, when not REQUIRED?
How 'bout the basic job of the pilot recruiters at any airline - sort through a big stack of resume's or applications, and make them into a smaller stack that they might be able to actually interview.
Just because you meet the...
The registration number was for Yemen?
Too bad the s.o.b. didn't achieve martrydom!
If he really is Dutch, then at least Darwin will eventually get him. Meantime, keep clear of him!
I considered a Legacy a short while back. After running a practice weight and balance, discovered that I could only fit myself and a 25 lb bag with full fuel. No passenger.
Perhaps the 320/360 has better useful load, due to a lighter airframe/engine.
I have started building a Glasair instead.
I'd suggest submitting a resume with an internal (AirTran) recommendation letter, AND/or go meet 'em at a jobfair.
When asked to interview, they had asked if I had filled out the online application yet. Kinda tells me they haven't checked the online system.
Rumor has it they are working...
The other day on "D," one of our ATR's had a mechanical failure of the prop brake, and the prop let loose, when it wasn't supposed to. The immediate action is to shut down the engine. The prop isn't supposed to turn until clear of the ramp. This may or may not have been what you saw. These...
I took my interview ride in March. I did the Higher Power prep. I highly recommend it. I agree the IAH sim is less squirly than the Alteon sim in DFW, but I also think the IAH sim has different thrust lever rigging. I found it to take MUCH greater Thrust Lever Angle position to spool up the...
I had a friend that interviewed late last month with 1480 hours PIC turbine. It was about 1400 when called for the interview. I knew another person who was called to interview recently that had exactly 1300 hours PIC turbine. They both had the type rating.
Can't say about the college degree...
