I spent almost 11 years on active duty and am currently in the reserves. I was under the impression that if I worked off the remainder of my 20 years in the reserves that at the age of 60 I would get medical benefits until I was pushing up daisies. I just heard recently that that's not true...
If you're waiting for an interview be sure to check your junk/spam email box if you have one. THIS IS NOT A JOKE OR A FLAME. Depending on how you're spam filter is set up, it might go straight to that box. I've heard that some people have found the emails months down the line because they don't...
How long is training from beginning to end and how much notification do you typically get between notification and class start date? Thanks.
Thanks for the info 328Dude!
I think a better plan MIGHT be to try to figure out which chief pilots have made calls. Once all have been listed we might have a better of when the calls are about to come to an end.
Phoenix
Dallas
Oakland
????
Sounds like a lot more calls to be made. Is there a chief pilot for Vegas yet...
I need to make a correction. I misunderstood my buddy who already got the call. I said in a previous post that the names were in alphabetical order. THAT IS NOT CORRECT. I apologize for the bad information. I'm still waiting for the call too and if you're going through all of the possible...
I have a friend that got the call last night. The chief pilot told him that the names were split up amongst chiefs by last name. His last name was at the end of the alphabet. With that information, it appears that listing your last initial might be the best information to pass along to all...
I got an interview with SWA without a type, but it took a while (one month before my date of availability...application was in the system for 10 months). From what I've seen it looks like 737 type = quick interview (within a month in some cases). IMHO, If SWA is your #1 choice get the type...
I'm also waiting for the results from the December DB. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for the first folks to find out if they are hired? Next day? A week? Thanks for any information.
I was at the Interanational Air Tatoo in England in a C-5. They wanted to know the max weight of the C-5. I rounded up to 800,000 pounds and they looked at me the same way they might look at you if you ordered a Quarter Pounder. They wanted it in tons, so with my quick "pilot math" I came up...
The general feeling is that you're there just to make it through with the path of least resistance. I was a flight commander and whenever I had a guard guy that acted like that, I thought to myself, "figures". Not all of the guard guys were like that and you can rest assured that you'll get as...
Great advice here. Don't go to a recruiter that will tell you, "Just sign up to get in the military. Once you're in the system it'll be easier for you to get a pilot slot." They have numbers they need to make and I wouldn't put it by them to try to use that as the carrot to get you to sign...
