Sure you make valid points... but at the end of the day, its what Nicolai (the arbitrator) rules. End of story!

    APA negotiations?

little progress??? how about NO progress... UPS SWA FEDEX all make an average of 125K more than our 737 captains. And the company wants to talk hotels and uniforms...

    American Recalls and Hiring

From a management standpoint to be understaffed is not such a bad thing... During the recall BOOM that began in '05; many of the airlines were very aggressive in recalls. United; CAL; DAL. Now United is furloughing almost 1000 pilots; CAL furloughed roughly 150; American was able to stop...

    American Recalls and Hiring

I find it interesting how everyone seems to have a theory. Dec.13th 2007 legislation passed for the mandatory retirement age to become 65. At the time if someone would have told me I would be roughly 600 numbers more senior at AA due to retirements; I would have thought they were nuts...

    AA furloughs cancelled!?!?

they never planned for 200 the official announcement was up to 200. which could have been 20,30,40 leading up to 200....

What's going on at AA re: furlough recalls?

pure speculation... 60 aircraft to be parked replaced by 36 new 737's equals a net loss of 24 jets at 10 pilots per jet 240 fewer pilots. but oh wait we were already short 167 pilots going into the summer. difference? 73 fewer pilots needed. not even close to 1000 furloughs...IMO

    CAL Early Out Offer

yes. you get to keep your retirement before a potential BK filing.

    AA: Furloughs? A plan? Retirements?

not sure if they are required to offer an early out (as you describe). There is a provision in the contract under the LOA Section TT regarding stand in stead furloughs. Nothing that I have read lead me to believe in a 1 year early out. I could have missed it.

    AA: Furloughs? A plan? Retirements?

Not sure where the 5 month severence check comes from... 5 years = 2 mos furlough pay... from the school house, furloughs are a "distinct possibility" in fact, the last and final recall class: in June, the guys are actually being given a choice on whether to change their mind... time will tell.
  16. G

Furloughs at AA, you know they are coming

maybe no furloughs in the next few months...however, the price of oil is an unknown variable; my sources say the parking of 40-45 s80's is only the tip of the iceberg... now is the time for guys to have contingencies and exit strategies in place. just my opinion...

    AA and age 60

    YES...latest number I heard is 45% staying

    XO Jet Announcement?

what airline did they fly for? Is it a 9month upgrade to CA? starting pay? any opportunities to make extra $? what's a CA make? thanks

    AA and CAL merger rumor

correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't the new arbitration grant pilots groups date of hire with 2 different unions? AA pilots would come out waaaaay on top that being the case. CAL has hired 2000 pilots in the last 3 1/2 years with 2 1/2 year captains. AA has 18-20yr F.O.s plus 2000 pilots...
