    RIP AirTran. Nostalgia thread

That went away at AT in 2007 or so. It went to the standard chime like everyone else.

    RIP AirTran. Nostalgia thread

Sitting reserve for my last six years and flying an average of 175 block hours a year (living in base of course)!

Check In for Dec 29th class

It sounds like the weekend before your class date. You will be able to login to SWALife using your new SWA ID at that point so I assume thats when your new employee number goes live.

Delta asked to leave Dallas Love Field

The Wright Amendment prohibited planes with over 56 seats (not sure on the exact number of seats but it's around 56) from flying non-stop to any city outside of Texas except for the few exempted cities which were mostly in neighboring states. When the the Wright Amendment goes away that...

The Big January Bid at SWA for AT

and I think that number is around 300 or so FAT cappys.

AirTran pilots will own the SW upgrades

Blue, The point of my post was not to argue who got the better deal so to speak. Some of the points you make are true, but I just wanted to throw out the actual captain numbers on this side of the partition that's all. I'll let the 5-10 of y'all arguing over who got the better deal continue the...

AirTran pilots will own the SW upgrades

There are 430 AT captains that are junior to SWA's most junior captain as of 1-1-15 not 200. The other 470 (for a total of 900 captains on the AT side) that are senior enough to hold captain on 1-1-15 will require vacancies to be able to upgrade, which I am sure will take 2015 and 2016 to get...

AirTran pilots will own the SW upgrades

There was a memo that came out yesterday stating there will be 144 upgrades awarded for the March vacancy that all AirTran pilots will be able to bid for. I assume that was the reason CF started this thread. There will be many 717 captains that will transition captain to captain. This was also...

    Airtran medical insurance

I pay $56 a month for my health insurance at Airtran with a deductible of $200, everything covered 100% above that. Even if the premium was free at SWA, which I know it is not, one procedure of $3500 would be more expensive at SWA than at AT with the 80% coverage up to a certain amount ($3000 or...

    Airtran medical insurance

In most cases the coverage was better on the Airtran side (at least the medical insurance, not sure about dental). You paid a bit more on the premiums at AirTran, but that more than paid for itself if you had just one procedure. Out of pocket is higher on the SWA side.

Yes, and now that we have established that let's please let this ridiculous thread die!

    Southwest slam clicks- c'mon captains....

Around an April/May 2001 hire at Airtran.

    RIP to the 'Southwest effect'?

I'm guessing the author meant to say 115 billion revenue passenger miles.

    SWA training rumor?

This FATie agrees with Phlinstone, let's put the SLI talk to rest. It is over, done, kaput! Move on. Either accept it and move on with your career at SWA or move on somewhere else wherever that may be. Life is too short to be angry all the time.

    question for the Southwest guys

What about the use of sunglasses with the A20 or QC15? I have a pair of Oakleys I wear, and I was wondering if they will interfere with the these headsets or make wearing them uncomfortable?

    Southwest Line on Credit?

That is exactly correct. Rampers usually deliver the ramp load to the pilots a few minutes before door close and the pilot inputs it along with fuel on board, Pax, runways anticipated (up to 3 can be inputed), runway conditions, and various power settings desired for T.O. (TO1, TO2, and/or...

Southwest to ‘trim headcount’ after growth in costs

There are more than 400 AirTran pilots that live in and close to Atlanta. If you include all 1700 + pre merger AirTran pilots, I bet that number is close to 800.

Airtran 717s to fly for Delta?

I suppose they would have to look at where they would end up at Delta. With the retirements at Delta many, especially junior Trannys, would probably look favorably at going to Delta. All AirTran pilots have a spot on the SWA list so if none of the AirTran pilots went to Delta they would...

    SWA Classes

Well, if they are gonna wait until all AirTran pilots have trained and transitioned that would be April 2014. That is the tentative date at which all AirTran pilots should have transitioned to the SWA side of the fence. That is subject to change of course. I'm not sure if SWA plans on not hiring...
