    a MAJOR announcement @ SkyWest

Business critical mass. Too big to remain the same, not quite big enough to expand without gambling. Think of it in terms of being trans-sonic slowly accelerating through and past mach one. There's a period where stability is shakey. SKYW's financials are in good enough shape that the...

    I need a different approach

narrowing it down. Does age of the instructor matter? Have you received complete preflight briefings on what & how is to take place in the air? In the same way there is "more than one way to skin a cat," there is more than one way to put an idea/concept/specific instruction to another...

    I need a different approach

Within the confines of the regulations and operational limitations of the aircraft, the one paying the bill gets to do what one wants. If what is wanted is an "extended test drive" then by all means have at it! Good mention of incidental learning in the above posts. Excerpts from FAA-H-8083-9...

    Opinions: Chautauqua, SkyWest, or TSA?

Another way to look at the choices Consider the companies in question individually as though you were going to become a share holder. History, financials, outlook, who has the superior product and the customer service to back it, etc. When you like what you see from a business standpoint...

    Elevator stalls?

Wondering if any of you have explored tailplane stalls in the sim, with or without contamination; experiences with T-tailed aircraft are of particular interest. How did the craft behave? Indications of the stall & recovery procedures. TIA

Starting your very own flight business

Business Axioms Archer, Put your plan together, crunch the numbers until they run together, take a deep breath, roll up your sleeves and have at it. A number of other posts seem to relate the sense that in aviation one is always one breath away from loosing ones shirt. It is a relatively...

Son, do you know why I pulled you over?

The retention period for driver license records is 10 years. Most convictions of traffic offenses, such as hit and run, reckless driving, and driving under the influence (DUI) will remain on your record for 7 years from the violation date and count as 2 points. Most other traffic offense...

Toughest part of training to get past

This is where "Professionalism" & "The Flight Instructor as a Practical Psychologist" strait out of the Aviation Instructor's Handbook comes into use. Professionalism, because the student must decide that the instructor is trustworthy in order to earn the student's trust. Practical...

    Signature FBO

All depends on the market(location) I have no complaints about Signiture at SBA & PSP; was treated professionally at both places, no fees(I did fuel) and no hassles. And yes, both of these locations still have $.50 off avgas on Saturdays. Mercury at BUR is awesome. Cutter at ELP is too.
