Must initial CFI checkrides be done with FSDO?

My friend wants to get his initial CFI. In my experience, there are DE's that have been "blessed" by their FSDO to give initial CFI checkrides. This appears to be no more. Is there some sort of FAA rule out on this? Is this a regional procedure? I would love to tell my friend that he can...

    Hazlett PT-6/Beech 99 video

PM me if you have a copy and are willing to part with it either permanently or temporarily. The piece I'm looking for was produced pre-1998. Valuable consideration negotiable. Thanks!!

Worst fuel that worked in PT-6

You can run a PT-6 on AvGas with limitations on altitude and engine life... but I heard that if push comes to shove, they will run on almost anything. Any PT-6 weird fuel stories out there?

Maximum TT and SMOH to buy 172N?

I'm in the market for a 172N and I was wondering if any mechanics had recommendations for times I should not exceed on TT and SMOH if I want an airplane that isn't falling apart. After my research, the average TT on for-sale planes was 5400 hours and the SMOH was 1020. Thanks!
