I'm sure the pilots of the recent airline crashes thought there aircraft were good to go. Obviously the pilot cant give the aircraft a %100 before he goes and flys it.
Phones can cause interference but it is highly unlikely it would kick off an autopilot. I am sure the autopilot was shielded against most normal interference which would probably include phones.
I havent ever experienced any interference and I think that on a lot of flights our whole crew of 4 has phones on but like someone already said, good luck getting service!
I'm a 15T and I can tell you that if you are a CE first you will be much better off in flight school. You will be well ahead of most other people in your class. Or should be anyways!
For some reason the AF seems to think that there installations are top secret, lol. I am stationed at Ft Bragg NC and I work at Simmons AAF. Pope AFB is next door and do those guys freak when they see a camera. Nothing special at Pope either, I could take pictures of it from the air all day...
The civilian guys that work in my hanger on our UH60's make upwards of $20 an hour and I think they regularly get overtime. They don't have A&P's either. Most of them just have former military experience.
We have been getting an engine out audio and light on an H60 when taking the #1 engine out of fly, the engine is still at 96% when we get the warning. This does not happen every time we fly. Any avionics or engine guys with ideas why this is happening? We checked all the fuses, all the wires...
