    ATC as a career?

I left flying to do ATC.

    ATC as a career?

Im not sure which region you would like to go to, but make an easy choice. Lots of folks come to the busy facilities and think that they can do it. Not everyone makes it. 10 years ago when you failed out of a busy facility, they sent you down or to flight service. Now they just let you go.

Any recent ATC visits? (including approach, centers)

None in ATL without knowing someone to escort you.

    Mysterious tach markings

I think this is what FNFAL is referencing.... The tale of the backwards tachometer The modern way to make a tachometer is to put something electronic in the engine that generates electrical pulses as the engine turns and ship these pulses via a wire to a unit mounted in the instrument panel...

    Mysterious tach markings

If this were a problem, wouldn't you think he would also repaint the green arc/red lines? They appear to be painted on the outside of the instrument and non hazardous.

    Mysterious tach markings

I like that idea, but it seems that would be overly complex for engine cooling. Having 10 different settings of cooling gills. SOMEONE MUST KNOW!!!

    Mysterious tach markings

I would like to change my answer.

    Mysterious tach markings

I would say quick reference to power settings for manuver entry. Loop, must be a 4. Inverted pass, must be 2......

    Aeronautical Pet Peeves

'Departing active' at an uncontrolled field. Hmm, didn't know there was an active runway.

How does the IFR clearance process work ?

I will use PDK to ORL. 2 high volume satellite airports that are controlled but to not have major carriers operating. This is just a guy and an airplane. Most flightplans are filed on duats, and always direct. Everything from a lear to a cessna will try to file direct into the busiest airspace...

    I'm a controller.

    Sorry TCF

    Yep, was it you?
  14. ISaidRightTurns

    Sorry TCF

Sorry to the Shuttlecraft guy south of DBN last week. That USAir wanted down. There was no need to call and ask 'what was that?'.

    cool callsigns

I always dig the military calls. Viper, Cobra, Killr. They just sound cool, especially with their cracking UHF radios and masks.

    Interesting PIREP

'They don't put buttons on seats for approaches like that'

Need help in New Orleans - PLEASE HELP!!! PLEASE VIEW!!!!!

As a side note, thanks to the moderators for keeping this post on the top page. The first person to find Jack was a photographer for one of the news outlets. There is no telling how much this post had to do with that at this time. Thanks again, MT

Need help in New Orleans - PLEASE HELP!!! PLEASE VIEW!!!!!

Jack was found in the upstairs of his house this morning by the national guard. The water is still in the downstairs. He was very dehydrated and confused, but overall his vitals are okay. The national guard did not remove him from his home, I don't know why. They did say they will check on...

Need help in New Orleans - PLEASE HELP!!! PLEASE VIEW!!!!!

No new news. The closest anyone can get is by causeway, still several miles from his house. The reports coming out don't sound promising, but I have heard some stories of old folks still being found alive.
