    Carb heat can also be used for an alternate means of airflow to enter the engine in heavy rain conditions or icing, where as the air filter is restricted/blocked.

    Airports near ski resorts in the Northeast?

    If you have a little more time, Wisp ski resort in Oakland, Md is a decent option with the resort within 2 mi of the airport. Identifier is 2G4, but also be aware of mountainous terrain.

    Oops My bad, edited my post, just hadn't seen a Loran approach before.

    Actually, I do not believe that there are any loran units certified for IFR approaches-my bad, just hadn't seen a Loran Runway 3 approach. I would have to look at a plate, but I think that it may be an overlay such as many GPS approaches overlay a VOR approach.

    Runway slope On an approximate 7% slope, we normally take off downhill with a 10 knot wind or less and uphill if greater than 10 knots.

    I am aware that for a Part 141 school, the school must have 50 students in order for a check instructor to be issued. My question is....Has anybody ever heard of a waiver being issued being that our school doesn't have 50 students??
