Ryanair commits to order 100 jets

'Gamechanger'. Right. Talk about marketing codswallop! Reminds of Airbus and their 4 engines 4 long-haul bollocks, not to mention the king of stupid marketing names 'The Dreamliner' :puke: Did like the bit about 'more fuel-efficient than most other current single-aisle ...', which sort of...

Ryanair considering 787s or A350s for TransAtlantic Flights

As per press release today, it's actually 40-50 787 or A330neo they're having a look at, to be delivered 'in 2 years'. Which just goes to prove that Ryanair are not very good at reading a calender, as the A330neo will be available in either 2017 or 2018, depending on the model. Think Boeing...

    The sandbox must be awesome!!!

Basic pay for a QR FA is EUR 811/month. Accommodation is provided (so AAB can make sure they are in bed before 0300 on off-days) as well as transport to/from work (so AAB can make sure they are all where he wants them to be). I've done a bit of consulting on behalf of IATA. My daily rate was...

    The sandbox must be awesome!!!

Here's a few more insights from Qatar Airways, specifically it's cabin crew: Upon receiving their wings, they will be meet as group with the CEO, Akbar Al-Bakar (aka The Poisoned Dwarf). He'll give them a visual check, then pass notice to crewing if he fancies someone. That someone will be...

EK To Double USA Destinations In 3-5 Years - Article

There's also the somewhat volatile discussion going on about FedEx and their operation with N-registered aircraft intra EU.

EK To Double USA Destinations In 3-5 Years - Article

Flew with Delta once. Well, twice actually. CPH to JFK then onwards to CVG. Worst trans-atlantic crossing I've ever had the misfortune of enduring; rattly old aircraft, crap seats and IFE in business class, cabin crew so sour they'd make a lemon look all smiley. On the other hand I've flown EK...

EK To Double USA Destinations In 3-5 Years - Article

There were rumours earlier in the year EK is considering opening another 5th freedom route, DXB-CPH-SEA.

    Emirates Looks At Transpacific Operation

In my previous job, based in Brussels, the company sent me all over the world, and quite frequently across the pond. The instructions I left with our travel agencies were really quite simple: No US carriers and no London Heathrow, apart from that don't really care. I didn't, and still don't...

Apparently, things are a bit relaxed at Air India

If you think an Air India aircraft carries a disagreeable smell, I invite you to sample the nasal delights of PIA or BIMAN, particularly after a Hajj flight!

    Etihad versus Emirates

Above all else, you and your family need to be content living with this kind of WX for 6 months of the year ... 2013/07/11 10 00 OMAA 111000Z 30013KT 9000 NSC 45/13 Q0994 A2937 NOSIG And the temp is in C, which makes it a balmy 113F. For all practical purposes, any outdoor pursuits are...

Any "Latest & Greatest" About Atlas?

Good for Atlas, not so good for DHL Air UK. Those 2 aircraft (G-DHLJ and G-DHLK) will be transferred from the DHK to the GTI AOC, and be based in PVG to serve intra-asia routes. First line is rumoured to be PVG-HKG-SYD. That service will replace the present CVG-HNL-SYD rotation operated by CKS...

After 737 Overrun - Spanish CRM Not So Impressive

Our lot hires 200 hour kids straight to the right hand seat of B757s. Mate of mine is a TRE/TRI, and he's getting a bit tired of holding their hands. Sure, they can fly the magenta line and program a FMC like champs, but switch the FD off and ask them to fly a visual and they often overload...

    Jumpseat to Singapore or Jakarta

If the intended destination is SIN or CGK, I suggest that landing almost 4000 miles away might not be very helpful ... Southern Air does LAX-LEJ-HKG and CVG-BAH-HKG, 6 days of the week. Kalitta will get you as far as Honkers as well. Plenty of options for flying HKG to SIN and CGK, but do keep...

    Air Europa?

A low quality, though not always low price, bucket and spade carrier of Spanish origin. Mainly flying tourists from places various in Europe to warmer and sunnier destinations in Spain. Pays their crews poorly, that is except for the First Officers who are paying for the "privilige" of flying a...

HE was one of Air France's "company babies"

Appreciate there's a vast difference between the hours expected from a candidate applying for a US major vs. that of a European ditto. I also appreciate that having had 1000 hours fooling around in bugsmashers teaching doctors not to kill themselves, getting lots of stick time in the process...

    UPS Fleet Plans?

Further on the B777F vs B744BCF fuel burn: Had our dispatch dig out some numbers, asked them to find two similar flights and compare numbers. I know it's a sample of one and therefore as unscientific as it gets, but never the mind. Both flights operated LEJ-HKG on the same day and within 6...

    UPS Fleet Plans?

I'd be surprised if UPS didn't join the pack and went for the B777F. Our lot, and that goes from flight ops over tech, to ground handling, sales and bean counting, can't stop singing the praises of that bird. The fuel burn, or rather lack thereof, when compared to a 747 is staggering; it burns...

    The FROGS at it again

Brilliant ultrarunner, you've managed to dig a 10-year old certification video out the archives. What's next, the powerpoint about the Etihad A340 that went over the blastfence?

    B-744F vs. B-777F...?

Lufthansa Cargo also chose to exit the nose-door business quite a few years ago, much to the pleasure of Cargolux. Basically their businessmodel said there'd be more profit to be had by switching from 747F NCD to MD-11F.

    B-744F vs. B-777F...?

The 777F's we've got can lift 106.7 tons payload, and fly same for around 10.5 hours. Can't do that with a 747. But it's horse for courses really, and in the world of integrators the 777F is a terrific aeroplane.
