From FAA Notice N8900.131:
1. Purpose of This Notice. This notice introduces the upcoming requirement for Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) part 121 air carriers to develop Fatigue Risk Management Plans (FRMP).
4. Background. Congress, reflecting high public interest in the...
U.S. pilots would need at least 1,500 hours of flight experience to get a job in an airline cockpit, six times the current minimum requirement, under a House-Senate agreement disclosed by a passenger advocacy group.
The agreement, part of broader aviation legislation being negotiated in...

By Casey Common This just in: Bloomberg News reported that the Delta pilots have OK’d their revised contract — potentially clearing the way for a merger with Northwest. Bloomberg cited anonymous sources familiar with the talks.
The deal includes pay raises...

I hate Paul Foley.
I know I'm no longer part of the Mesaba Family. However, after reading the article in the MSP Star Tribune this morning, I needed to vent.
Cancel the "MAIR Letter"?
Go fcuk yourself Foley.
Is there a central location to use to put a resume out there for corporate aviation? AirlineApps seems to be all...well...airline. I did the airline thing and will not go back. Thanks.
When you complete a crossbleed start, say from right to left, will the left engine bleed air valve open automatically (switch is ON) if the isolation valve is still open?
A federal judge in New York today granted Northwest Airlines' request for an injunction to prohibit flight attendants from engaging in targeted strikes against the carrier.
U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero's decision comes three weeks after he temporarily barred flight attendants from going...
With the furloughs having started a few days ago, why does anyone pick up open time?
We all need money, but with your fellow pilot kicked onto the street, why would you help the company out?
I know ALPA can't request pilots to stop picking it up (illegal job action), but it seems common...
Going from DTW to MSP. The CA did an outstanding job of getting all 4 of us (3 XJ type) jumpseaters onboard.
All flights to MSP were overbooked and oversold (another example of why redtail loses money?). The CA went far above and beyond what he needed to do and pulled a "because I'm the...
Knowing that there are also good guys and gals at Pinnacle, I propose this question:
What flavor is the Kool-Aid that they are making you drink over there?
The above question is based on my following observations:
1. You honestly believe that the bad ramp service in DTW will directly...
I was pondering the dismal future of NWA and it's two Red Headed Step Children. I was thinking about how much my future plans have changed. Only to be changed yet again. I wondered if it could all really be this bad...
Then I watched the Vikings play the Bengals...
...and I realized I'm...
I had to commute home to MSP today and the direct flights were booked solid as usual (by the way, how much money does NWA lose on a full flight?). I decided to try my chances through a connect to RST. Only problem was, the CRJ was scheduled to arrive 5 minutes after the Saab left to MSP.
I...
I am sure there are people who will disagree with me, but here's my thoughts on the relatively endless threads asking about who's got the fastest upgrade time:
Don't worry about it.
Find or pick an airline/cargo/corporate outfit because you want to work there. I've had friends go here and...
Looks to me like at least 3 of the 4 bombers in London were Middle Eastern men in their 20's or 30's. I wonder if there is a pattern here. I wonder if profiling will ever become a reality. I wonder if dodgeball will ever be put back in schools.
Just had to deadhead in a 757. It gets my vote for the worst airliner cabin. To top it off, it was a -300. I think I was in row 400. Took 45 minutes to deplane. Fun.
After a failed attempt by Northwest to raise ticket prices $50, I see that some mainline carriers are trying to do it again. This time around, however, it's only $10. From the news releases, it seems like American might not follow suit and thus the increase would die.
It seems so odd to me...
