Look there was a window, albiet small, to take an offer and get F9 pilots on WN property. Had I been in the shoes of the FAPA union I might very well think I was being railroaded too so I can't say I blame them holding out that night that likely decided the rest of their careers. The end outcome...
It's not even accurate, I am a 5th year FO and get paid almost $108 "per trip." It's gets complicated by I average 100 trips per month (about 85-90 hrs) and some guys work the system and pick up to the tune of 115+ trips per month. So in reality it is a lot more than the 20 yr Republic CA, a lot...
General Lee you are an ATA dude aren't you? At least WN if offering these guys slots. Don't let your anger at what happened to you cause people to lose profitable careers, they have families to think about.
airlinepilot: for the last time, there is no official statement because the situation is very dynamic and can effect stock prices and the deal itself while negotiating is still going on. the forum posts are from BOD and M&A members with their full name and login clearly confirmed. what the heck...
Again SWA is going to grow in the next few years and has many aircraft orders. Clearly SWA would prefer to get these markets overnight from F9 and then use those orders to switch to the 737 but if the deal doesn't happen that doesn't mean no growth at SWA, it means organic and perhaps slightly...
airlinepilot: its all real. things started moving fast early last night. swapa keeps a twitter account with details and numerous domicile reps as well as people on the M&A committee have been posting nearly every few hours on the changing conditions in the frontier forum folder. i suspect SWAPA...
A few points...
1. The most senior guy at F9 will make less, far less than they do today as the most senior guy at F9 controlled by RAH.
2. The most senior guy at F9 stapled to the bottom at WN will make instantly more than they do today because they get pay protected at their old pre-cuts...
The offer is to pay protect at SWA FO rates from day 1 even before they come over to WN. I am a 5 year FO at SWA and make more than CAs at F9. IMHO that is a crazy good offer, every pilot at F9 will get a raise (and in some cases a big one) on the very first day. I wish there was an answer where...
not to scare you but they will often check for your 1300 PIC turbine and see if 1) it is there and 2) it was dated at the same time you claimed to have it. lying doesn't pay. that said it seems the mins are going down soon, but i wouldn't bogus up anything on the app if you want a prayer of...
Well didn't quite hear that in the same way. I heard AirTran will not take 5 options in 07 and 7 options in 08. At SWA we are being told we are working with Boeing to be the carrier that gets those options so we'll see. I think the deal has to be worked with Boeing, not AirTran but clearly it is...
Mega... and I mean this seriously...
SWA has raised fares numerous times this last year, including this week. When the fares were at their lowest we made money. Now they are higher and we continue to make money.
I can understand how some criticize airlines who lower their ticket prices when...
That may be true. I will say SWA has in general (there are exceptions everywhere) the nicest, friendliest employees from pilots, to FAs, to dispatchers, to reservation agents, rampers, gate agents, CPs... everyone. They love their company and they love the job and that makes ALL the difference...
I average 3-4 legs per day, often less. I average 18 days off a month, all 3 on 4 off. I average 14+ hours on the overnights, often closer to 17+. The only major difference, I don't have 45+ minute turns, they are all 25 minutes... that is fine by me, it gets more flying (and pay) into a day AND...
The mistakes that you and others make in regards to SWA, over and over again, is applying lessons from other carriers and assuming they apply. They don't. If you don't get SWA is different, then and now, you don't get SWA.
Watch and learn this Section 6, everyone has their vocal minorities but...
Dude you don't have a clue what you are talking about. Stopping margins on the 5400 rwy can be as high as 2000+ feet depending on the weight of the 737, information made clear with onboard data SWA runs for each landing. The 50 seat CRJs don't have slats and their approach speeds are higher and...
