Union Leaders leave 1st White House meeting with Trump Absolutely Stunned!

Congress just proposed a law that would drastically weaken unions, by making the whole country a right-to-work country. More money to the 0.1%, less money to union workers. I think trump will sign this legislation if it p***************es Congress.

    Growing Pilot Shortage

Delta was having no-shows for class, and new hires leaving during class, earlier this year...as was FedEx, SWA, and Hawaiian.

    Latest Regional Headhunting

There's no regional pilots shortage...remove the word regional. I talked to a DAL check airman recently...he said he doesn't see a way that DAL, if they continue with their normal hiring practices, will be able to get enough pilots to prevent having planes grounded for lack of pilots...the...

    Atlas Air?

I always bid to get certain days off...so sometimes i do 2 trips back-to-back to get the days off I want in the next bid. I'll get right on that...

    China West Air-FO Spots

The Chinese airlines are pressuring the CAA to change to a normal physical, instead of a 21 yr old militant style ..

    China West Air-FO Spots

Summer of 2014, for the first time, several Chinese airlines opened FO hiring to expats...because of the growing pilot shortage.

    Western Global Airlines

I know someone there that had multiple flying jobs in Africa. They said the Western Global is THE WORST flying job they've had by far...and this person didn't want to go back to Africa because the flying jobs there were so crappy.

New hires: Avoid Envoy at all costs.....

It does if the pilots leaving are above you in seniority.

    HAL neos in 2018?

HAL was the AI (Artificial Intelligence) computer that was designed to "assist" the astronauts in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. HAL instead tried to kill the astronauts, which is similar to "assisting", but different. Lately, there have been a lot of concerns about AI, and what happens when...

New hires: Avoid Envoy at all costs.....

The timelines you posted are not realistic. Going forward, there is a big monthly loss of pilots per month at Envoy. That will speed everything up. I also believe the negative monthly pilot hiring situation will get worse (for HR) as the pilot shortage gets worse and worse. Just today, SWA...

125-seat Bombardier CS300 almost ready for first flight - more orders in US?

The C has the best engine available, the Pratt and Whitney Geared Turbo Fan (GTF). It is different from a standard jet engine, in that it has a "transmission", for much greater efficiency. The "C" can be easily stretched to seat well over 150 people, and provide competition to Boeing/Airbus. I...

Japan Raises Pilot Retirement Age to 67

Another example of airline management's failure to plan ahead. JAL would have much less a shortage if they retained ALL of the Americans...and it would make it easier for them to recruit Americans now. In my que, next to this article is SWA announcing that a 737 type rating was no longer...

    SWA Removes B737 Type Requirment

In my que, the thread after this was Japan raises the retirement age to 67 (and if you didn't know, some years back, Canada dropped their retirement age altogether). So, what does SWA dropping their long-time 737 type requirement and Japan raising their retirement age to 67 have in common???

    Atlas Air?

Here's an example 747 schedule: Bidder was 50ish %tile of bidders in the base (JFK). Was awarded their #1 choice of line. 60 Day Award (about half of the lines were 30 days, and half were 60 days): Off: 2 Mar. Notes: 1. Coming off of an 8 day trip. 1. Home on afternoon of 1Mar, so home 2...

    Atlas Air?

The new hire class this week is 12 747 and 6 767 slots. They are all starting class on the same day, and bidding for aircraft and base...unusual for Atlas. Don't know if this is the "new norm" or not. If you live in MIA, and are based there, you could easily be home a lot of nights. If you are...

    HAL neos in 2018?

We don't want any new planes with HAL in the cockpit....looked what he did in 2001!!! My motto is NO AI in aircraft cockpits!!!

There is no pilot shortage! Sorry. By the way Santa Claus isn't real either.

ALPA is just plain wrong. They have an agenda to increase pay, but they are going about it the wrong way. If they would face facts and get behind the reality of the shortage, they could say "there is a HUGE shortage. We need more pay to alleviate the shortage." They are stuck in the paradigm of...

It is much, much easier to get student loans in Canada, and the universities there are much, much cheaper than in the US.
