Had a 30 day wonder come in for CFI/CFII standardization the other day. She did her CFI, CFII, and MEI in 30 days at All-ATPs. Went full scale on several approaches (including an ILS!!!) and actually had to get re-vectored by ATC at one point on an approach. And apparently they dont' teach...
What are your thoughts on Mitich Mitchelson? What pops in your head when you hear the name? Please, be honest. I'm trying to learn a bit more about the man. What operations is he tied to besides Gulfstream Academy? I think he's our new next door neighbor....
I didn't go to riddle, i didn't get the minor in ATC, so i'm pretty much clueless when it comes to the requirements. any ATC guys out there want to help me? i was thinking about making the switch from the flying end of aviation to the controller end. i'm working on my instructor ratings right...
I was watching a video posted in another forum about a 707 and the golden age of flight and i got to thinking: did those old 707s have autopilots? if so, was it just altitude and heading, or did they have autothrottles too?
so here's a question. I was up at CMH a few weeks ago in my 172. it has an ILS critical area hold short line. they said ILS rwys 28L and 28R were in use, but the weather was not IFR. do i have to hold short of the ILS critical area hold short line when the atis says "ILS rwy XXX in use" or...
is there any sort of an ILS or aid to help pilots landing on a carrier, or is it all visual? i can't imagine. i'm watching a show about aircraft carriers on the history channel and it's amazing. 2.15 crashes per 100,000 landings on a carrier. to me, that seems pretty good!!! the host said...
just curious what the regular scheduled maintenance on airliners is. at our school, we do 50 hr and 100 hr inspections, but what do the bigger planes (part 121 and 135, i guess) have to go through? i imagine its different for turbines vs pistons
not sure if i'm missing something here or not, but QUIT POSTING THE LINK TO THE BUDWEISER "DISCOUNT AIRLINE PILOT GUY" COMMERCIAL!!!! HOLY CRAP!!:angryfire
I was reading the Gulstream/TEB (http://forums.flightinfo.com/showthread.php?t=64082) thread and i had a question about professionalism and whether or not i have a legitimate gripe:
yesterday i was flying in the soup, through a mighty level 2 rainstorm, getting vectors to final for the GPS 29...
in my logbook, i have a column called "instrument approaches". let's say i'm flying solo, severe clear, and i shoot the ILS 7L at daytona to a full stop. no foggles, no IMC, nothing. is that considered an instrument approach or do i have to be in actual/simulated to be able to log it in that...
anyone else think that they should concentrate on the problems that they have now with the A380 instead of moving onto new things? and do we REALLY need another freakin' airliner?!?
