The purpose of "takeoff trim" durring a decent???

Not talking about glides, but about a standard decent, under power, from traffic pattern altitude. Now I've got the procedure burned into my head pretty good. Opposite TD point...carb-heat, 2000RPM, 1st notch flaps, and take-off trim. But why the take-off trim? I do beleive I remember my...

I don't understand this type of landing.

When attempting to land a small, single-engine airplane, the typical procedure seems to be the "three point landing". Apparently, you decent towards the runway, with your nose pointed more/less right at it with the power eventually cut right out. As you get in closer, you round it out or...

Does anyone here NOT have a 4-year degree, and flying or not, do you consider yourself doing alright???

Quick video of mods I made to flight simulator.

What's up with Microsoft flight simulator??? You crash a 777 into the ground at mach-1, and it stays intact and just kicks up some dust??? Yeah right. I got tired of this, and installed a mod: http://www.zippyvideos.com/8500680431558976/crash_0001/*unanswerd

Dumbest thing you've EVER done in an airplane?

That's pretty funny, but I'm guilty of far worse. My instructor and I were practicing a little instrument work, and for the first time I got to wear the "foggles". He told me to make a turn to the left or something, and I swear, I turned my head to look for traffic with the foggles on!!! Real...

Would you fly a single-engine airplane across the Atlantic???

Everyone has thier personal limits. What do you think???

    Does ATC get pissed???

You're doing touch & go's at a towered field. From what I've been taught, this is basically the correct call-up on downwind: "XXX tower, Cherokee 1234 is midfield, downwind, 33, for the option". If we've been told to fly right traffic, that gets added too. I timed myself, it takes a whole 4...

Can you use 100LL in place of engine oil???

Just wondering, because a member of the CAP almost did. Fortunately, someone stopped him.

    Ever have this happen?

Ever been doing touch & go's, and land so far down the runway that you're afraid to try and take off again? Yesterday I came in so fast I though I was gonna float clear down to the other side. She finally hit a little off-center. My instructor always says get back on the center-line before...

    Turbulence and convective activity

So does it shove small airplanes around more easily than it does large airliners? Sometimes it feels like I just have no control over what I'm doing as the Cherokee bouces around in the air. It makes for a rough ride, and a feeling of sub-standard stick/rudder skills...

Instructor not concerned about engine failure, restarted, and continued lesson.

Hehe. It wasn't in flight. It was a little mishap on the taxiway... Thinking back to my first few lessons, I remember a time when I was having quite a bit of trouble taxiing the airplane. My instructor would always say, "slow down with the throttle, not the brakes"! I remember he said this and...

Is New Orleans a no-fly zone???

With all the helicopters, you'd think so. If I was near that area, and had my ticket, I'd be compelled to fly over the area.

Rescue helicoper crashes in New Orleans.

It doesn't look good. No status on the crew.

    "Usable" fuel capacity???

In the PA28, if both tank were topped right up to the brim, the total fuel capacity would be 50 gallons. But what would be the "useable" capacity??? I couldn't find anything in the airplane manual. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Can they fail you???

Quick question. Can a DE actually fail you for a bad landing? How about about one that actually bounces???
