Canadian flying for a US carrier... I need your help!

Hi all, I am Canadian, and I fly for a US airline. My question has nothing to do with certificate qualifications (I have US pilot certificates), but rather with Passport issues. My passport expires next June, and I need to apply for a new Canadian Passport. On the application it says that I...

Pet peeves from the ATC folks

When I worked on the ramp for SkyWest, I caught hell from a captain for giving him the "hang-loose" sign for "chocks-in" (this was a pretty common hand jesture among S.W. pilots and Ramp agents. His reasoning was, "That jesture it's not standard. We both need to know what each is saying so that...

Pet peeves from the ATC folks

From the pilot-controller glossary: Have Numbers. Used by pilots to inform ATC that they have received runway, wind, and altimeter information only.

    Two stripes

I think that it is Quantas, or maybe Lufthansa that give first-year first officers only two stripes (the probationary period). I can't remember if I read it or if someone told me that. Personally, I think that any FFDO should get red stipes, you know, like the marine's who get their blood...

    Give Flightinfo Some Time

Well certainly it does not sum up my feelings. I don't know if you know this or not, but my avatar is kind of a joke. Russia was communist. The communist party was over-thrown. Therefore "The Party's Over." Get it? I thought you would. ;) Jack

    Regarding first class medical

I was in the office for a total of 25 minutes for my 1st class. I think it starts to be more difficult once you are over 40. I think they do the whole bum check and heart stuff then...but I'm not sure, I'm not over 40. Jack

    Commercial Checkride Coming Up

I have my commercial checkride in about two weeks. Apart from the usual studying and practice, can anyone give me some advice. After the Instrument Rating I thought that this one would be a breeze, but I just don't think that it will be. What checkride could ever be a breeze? Thanks, Jack PS...
