I was looking for, but can't find the answer to this. I seem to remember a rescue flight from Africa to Israel with an almost unbelievable number brought back. Anyone, anyone, Bueller?
I grew up just a few hours drive from New Orleans, but never took the opportunity to visit. Now, I fear that the city may never be the same again. For those of you that have lived in "The Big Easy", or just had some good times there, please share some of your memorable experiences. Thanks.
A few years ago, we contracted a Sikorsky Skycrane to install lift towers at my place of work. If memory serves, it operated at over 11,000', with a density altitude of maybe 12,500' or so, while taking a max load of 5,000 to 6,000 lbs.

I was just wondering what the purpose is for taking an an airplane engine (eg. the Lyc. 0-360 in the C-172R being derated to 160 hp or the Lyc. 0-320 in a Cherokee 140 derated to 140 hp) and limiting it's power. If you (the pilot) want to get better economy, set the engine at a lower cruise...
