    United or American?

My 2 cents: Same $hit, different paint job. I went to US Air last year for 6 months, right after the merger was announced, and then jumped ship for UA, solely for the reason I live in a UA hub and stronghold. You can't go wrong with either one; i questioned my move after last years disastrous...

Mindset of the typical US Airways east pilot?

Every bankruptcy a large company goes through has a code name. Obviously all the consulting firms and people working on it can't have "Brand XXX bankruptcy" all over their documents. Northwest's was Project Duckling.

    United or American?

US hired around 300 this year, and don't forget America West hired every year from 1995-2008 except for '06.

    United or American?

There is plenty of overlap. Just because there are not nonstop flights that overlap doesn't mean there is no overlap. Also, I can't see how PHX stays the same size. See Cincy and Cleveland. All the gaps in Asia can be handled through JAl and CX. Gaps in the Middle East can be handled through...

American pilots weren’t allowed to strike, so instead they did something clever

So what happens in this scenario if you substitute "an outstation on Christmas eve" to "Kandahar or Bagram"? It's black and white right? Guess you gotta go stay in a tent for a couple nights while the company sends in a part. Same for you AA73, I'll bet if you do a military charter and take some...

American pilots weren’t allowed to strike, so instead they did something clever

I love how you equate not writing up the nav light till you get back to base and discover it on the postflight to taking off with frost on the wings.

American pilots weren’t allowed to strike, so instead they did something clever

This thread just shows how spot on the "Last of the dinosaurs" thread is. Two different mentalities. People who are captains and think and act like a captain, or people who are robots and think and act like the feds and their DO are across the fence with binoculars watching them on Christmas eve...

IT'S A NAV LIGHT! You're the captain, and you're gonna time out and go to the hotel and strand 100+ pax, YGTBSM.
