United or American?
My 2 cents: Same $hit, different paint job. I went to US Air last year for 6 months, right after the merger was announced, and then jumped ship for UA, solely for the reason I live in a UA hub and stronghold. You can't go wrong with either one; i questioned my move after last years disastrous... -
No new hires at AA for a while
FWIW United announced today instead of 769 new hires this year they will be hiring 1,040. -
Airline Pilot Pay
No airline's captains are averaging $400. Yeah there are guys pulling that but it's not the average.- airgator

Mindset of the typical US Airways east pilot?
Every bankruptcy a large company goes through has a code name. Obviously all the consulting firms and people working on it can't have "Brand XXX bankruptcy" all over their documents. Northwest's was Project Duckling. -

US hired around 300 this year, and don't forget America West hired every year from 1995-2008 except for '06. -

There is plenty of overlap. Just because there are not nonstop flights that overlap doesn't mean there is no overlap. Also, I can't see how PHX stays the same size. See Cincy and Cleveland. All the gaps in Asia can be handled through JAl and CX. Gaps in the Middle East can be handled through... -
