GPS IAP - turn required or not?

91.175.j Limitation on Procedure Turns. In the case of a radar vector to a final approach course or fix, a timed approach from a holding fix, or an approach for which the procedure specifies "No PT" no pilot may make a procedure turn unless cleared to do so by ATC.

    Leather Jacket ???'s

The Gibson and Barnes jacket is made of a much better quality leather. Maybe too good, because it looks stiff for quite a while. The Perrone leather is not as durable but breaks-in faster. One example of the relative quality is the back panel. The back panel of the Gibson and Barnes jacket...

    Mesa to furlough approximately 150

Common let's focus on those wonderful people at MESA getting furloughed.....They are getting what they deserve. In February when MESA ceases to exist the rest of the bottom feeders at MESA will get their just reward.

So I just got my first interview....

Unfortunately I think all of you, and me, missed our time in aviation.... by about 20 years but I enjoy the humor.

    Eclipse crash on takeoff

You want proof that the Eclipse is a P.O.S. It's has tip tanks!!! State-of-art...in 1960 tip tanks. When the Williams engines proved themselves to be fantasy they added tip tanks instead of redesigning the wings to carry the increased fuel load.

Turds like this guy are one more reason to get out of the business.

    NetJets Credit Check

Can anyone tell me if/when NetJets does the credit check during the application process. Since it seems to be taking 5 months from application submission to interview should I expect the ding on my credit sooner or later.

10 JAN 2007 NTSB determines cause of fatal CRJ crash in Jefferson City

This accident should never be "put to bed". Every pilot should always remember this accident and it's causes. Maybe that will keep someone else from screwing around with an airplane and killing people.

    Non-Rev to China???

Cal flies non-stop to both Hong Kong and Beijing from Newark. He should check with his employee travel department to find out what type of deal his airline has with Cal.

    Anyone been to Rio lately?

Got back from Rio this morning! It is my favorite place on the planet. Once I met Brazilian girls, I lost all patience with American women. The advice Crash-Proof gives is all good. Stay in Ipanema or Leblon. Ipanema is more convenient. There is no reason to go club Help and deal with the...

    Da40 / Sr20

What would you like to know? I have about 300 hours in Cirrus SR 20/22 and about 300 in DA-20/40s. The SR-20 is very comfortable, cruises at 155 ktas but suffers from pathetic climb performance and has no short or soft field capability. The Cirrus, particularly the avionics, look great but have...

    Rotten fsdo employees

About a month ago, FAA Inspectors were red tagging aircraft ...... In Freeport, The Bahammas!!!! I kid you not. You can see it now... A couple of bitter, over the hill inspectors decide they need a vacation...paid vacation... and justify it by writing tickets.

    LightSPEED Thirty 3G

Try them both on and go with the pair that feels better. That said - Go with the Lightspeeds, they are superior in every way. I fly every day as a CFI and work in one the biggest pilot shops in the world. I have tried every popular model on the market including Bose and the Lightspeeds are...

    Private Training in an SR-22

A couple of thoughts: Your student is going to have a tuff time getting insured in the Cirrus. Most insurance companies want a minimum of 500 tt and an instrument rating. That's because people keep doing stupid pilot tricks with them. For example, a couple of months ago a guy tried to land...

    JAA License

You can earn JAA licenses in the US by going to a school that has a JAA certified program, instructors, and examiners. I do not think you can "convert" any FAA licenses to JAA. I work with several European pilots who can't even convert their FAA certificates to JAA.
