    Cathay Aircraft... Need Help...

For aircraft in the fleet, the recent 2006 interim financial report gives a list. You can get it on the CX website, under investor relations. Wikipedia also gives an updated list. For airframe/engine combinations, go to www.pprune.com, page 2. Hope this helps, and good luck. Cheers.

    good aviation-related books?

Predilectory pedantics notwithstanding.... "Piece of Cake" by Derek Robinson - WW2 fighter pilots "Goshawk Squadron" by Derek Robinson - WW1 "Three Cheers for Me" by Donald Jack. This is the first book in the infamous Bandy Papers series. Sex, gin, lizards, ladies, Huns and Dolphins...

The math book is called Mental Math for Pilots. The Cheryl Cage book is well worth reading. The EAA often carries copies for sale, along with Amazon.

    air tanker down...

Came across this and thought it might suit, although avbug's blue skies, black death post was more succinct. An Irish Airman Foresees His Death I know that I shall meet my fate Somewhere among the clouds above; Those that I fight I do not hate, Those that I guard I do not love; My country is...

    Calgary Alberta

GST Save your receipts. When you clear Canadian customs ask for a GST rebate form. After you exit the country, as a non-resident, you can claim a rebate on the 7% tax you paid on your items. You will have to wait between 6 weeks and 6 months, but you will get 50% of your GST back. As far...

    Looking for Contract WebSite

A while ago in response to inquiries regarding various regional airline payscales someone posted a website which listed most of the contracts and other info. I forgot to bookmark it. Useful site - the contract button is in the upper right hand corner. Can anyone help out on this? Thanks in...

    Need some advice

Is the PIC turbine time in a twin engine aircraft or in a single? If it is in a single engine aircraft there is some pretty good pro/con debate on a previous thread. I think if you search the forum using 'caravan time' you would pick up some good info. I would ordinarily suggest going for the...

    Direction of turns, Uncontrolled airport

Forgot this At some glider ports I know of, glider traffic flies one traffic pattern [ie RHS] and powered ac are requested to fly the other pattern [ie LHS]. ISame also where a runway is co-located with a river/water aerodrome. Those on floats fly on one side and those on wheels fly the...

    Direction of turns, Uncontrolled airport

One of the major reasons I've found has to do with noise abatement, particularly if the airport is close to a town or village. I know of 2 airports with 'aircraft haters' who live just to one side of the runway, and pilots are specifically directed not to fly close to these houses.

    Direction of turns, Uncontrolled airport

Thanks! After receiving replies to my post I ventured out to some uncontolled airports w/RH patterns that I hadn't visited before. Sure 'nough, the indicators are right where they're supposed to be - in plain sight! Thanks to all for the help

    Direction of turns, Uncontrolled airport

Thanks Thanks for all the info. In the past, where I've flown, pilots are expected to know LH or RH traffic pattern prior to even getting to the airport and that's what I've normally done. The concept of just flying to the airport, looking down and figuring out the traffic pattern at that...

    Direction of turns, Uncontrolled airport

Uh-huh Many of the uncontrolled fields I've flown into are north of the border, where markings are somewhat different, and most of the US grass strips I've been into are lucky to have a windsock, let alone a circle/tetrahedon arrangement. Others are water aerodromes where once again, a...

    Direction of turns, Uncontrolled airport

FAR 91.126 (b) (1) states that "each pilot of an airplane must make all turns of that airplane to the left unless the airport displays approved light signals or visual markings indicating that turns should be made to the right....etc." Can someone tell me what these approved light signals or...
